Description
Madeline is from the mushroom family. She is inspired by the mushroom folk from Elsa Beskow’s enchanting book, The Children of the Forest. Elsa Beskow is a beloved Swedish children’s author and illustrator.
Madeline is handmade from a range of materials (see below). The doll is free-standing, light and delicate to touch. The doll is dry felted and is around 16 cm in height and 8 cm in diameter at the base. The fibre I used came from a business located in the Adelaide Hills called Felting Ewe.
The doll comes with a detachable dry-felted mushroom cap bonnet, around 6cm in diameter, a 11 cm by 8cm triangular shawl and a mini trug. 6 cm in length and 3 cm wide.
Materials
Madeline doll: critter fibre of various colours, wool tapestry thread, deco foam, chenille stems.
Mushroom bonnet: critter fibre and acrylic knitting yarn.
Shawl: upcycled cotton red and white checkered material with acrylic knitting yarn.
Trug: metal wire and kraft paper with three white rose paper flowers.
