Description
This handmade doll is inspired by Ēostre, the West Germanic goddess of Spring. Traditionally, the goddess is linked to rabbits and hares.
Ēostre and her leveret (baby hare) are made from a range of materials (see below). The doll is free-standing, light and delicate to touch.
Materials
Doll: critter fibre, wool thread, deco foam, merino felt, chenille stems and a quartz crystal flake.
The doll is approximately 12 cm tall and around 7 cm diameter at the base and is dry felted from critter fibre of various colours. The fibre I used came from a business located in the Adelaide Hills called Felting Ewe.
Basket: upcycled bottle top, metal wire, muslin cloth, painted cotton twine and critter fibre.
The basket is around 2.5 cm in diameter (at its base) and is around 4cm tall (including handle).
Hare: polymer clay.
The hare is around 2.3 cm long.
