Verbena, the fairy

by | Jan 19, 2021

In my garden live six fairy sisters, called Verbena, Daisy, Mabel, Elidih, Violet and Lily. The sisters spend much time looking after my plants. They also love to play magical games like throw the wand and seek.

Verbena, the Fairy

Verbena, the oldest sister, is named after the verbena, a woody plant with pretty flowers. The verbena is a favourite of butterflies and bees. I am growing it in my garden, and its flowers are dark pink and white.

Verbena, the fairy, loves to dance. Her favourite place to perform is at my fairy door. I see her jig and jive, making her sisters laugh and the flowers beam with joy. As she dances, she sprinkles dust across the stems and petals of my flowering plants. This dust is magical; it makes flowers open, and then the bees and birds come and feed on them. The birds often stay to watch Verbena, in awe of the way she gracefully leaps and spins.

Verbena’s dance at the fairy door

Today I saw Verbena spinning at my fairy door. Round and round and around she went. I felt dizzy just watching her. I don’t know how she did it! If you would like to see watch her dance, I invite you to watch a short video on YouTube.

If you would like to learn more about Verbena the Fairy and her five sisters, I cordially invite you to visit my online shop.

Meanwhile, if you would like to learn more about how the fairies can help the plants grow in the garden, I can recommend Cicley Mary Barker’s flower fairies books, including the Flower Fairies of Summer. The book is available from the Book Depository and Amazon.

Bye for now, Wonder Weavers.
